Report of HRD- IIT Delhi (UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN) at K.M. College, University of Delhi

The Kirori Mal College has been selected for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan sponsored by IIT – Delhi. Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is a flagship program of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, with the intension to enrich rural India. It also aims to create a vibrant relationship between society and the higher educational institutes, with the latter providing the knowledge and technical support to improve the livelihoods in rural areas and to upgrade the capabilities of both public and private organizations in the society.

Under the UBA program, College has organized One day awareness program conducted at Munni and Rudri village of Bulandshahar on 19th February 2020. More than 100 women participated in the awareness program, program was organized at village school, and female from the age group 15 to 45 participated in the program. What is Menstruation?

  • Impart scientific facts about Menstruation, Physiology of menstruation
  • Dispel Myths and conceptions about menstruation
  • Discuss the Facts about ill management of Menstruation and impact on Reproductive health.
  • How to use and dispose Sanitary Napkin.

It was observed that 70% women have reproductive infections as notice from the symptoms shared by women.

Under the program, College has adopted 5 villages (Munni, Sahaipur, Narayanpur, Bhogpura, Rudri) near Khurja in Bulandshahar district of Uttar Pradesh and carrying out studies of living conditions, accessing the local problems and needs. The students and faculty members are frequently visiting adopted 5 villages time to time and have made village level and household level survey in May 2019 to understand the socio-economic profile of the villagers to understand their socio-eco problems. Recently college has organized one day health check-up camp for the villagers in association with Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharati hospital Merrut and Kailash Hospital Khurja to spread medical and hygiene awareness and distributed free of cost medicine to the villagers. The team of doctors has checked 250 villagers and prescribed them different kind of medicines as per the treatment. College has also distributed stationary and hand-wash soap to 80 students of the primary school of the sahaipur village during the camp.
